Manufacturing touches every life every day. Consider how many manufactured goods are involved in just the production of our food, shelter, water, transportation, and healthcare. Did you know that for every $1 of value created in manufacturing, $1.4 of value is created in other areas of the economy?

We cannot think that being a services economy means that we don’t need to be a manufacturing economy. A healthy US manufacturing economy helps all other areas of not only the US economy but the world economy, we are all impacted when the US manufacturing economy is weakened.

Consider that on a single individual daily basis, cost of goods increase when manufacturing can’t meet demand. Which means my income will not purchase as much. A services economy still runs on manufactured goods. As an example, what good is your internet connection if there is no hardware to deliver it or receive and use it?

So, what can I do? Manufacturing has really big issues like workforce shortages, loss of innovation, weak supply chain, and lack of sustainability and I am just one individual.
